Offering a safe, caring, compassionate space

A very warm welcome to my website for personal counselling.

Life, with all its challenges and uncertainties can seem very difficult at times.  Emotions can be hard to process alone or with our loved ones.

I aim to offer you a safe, caring and compassionate space to explore in depth, in confidence and without judgement the issues that bring you to counselling.

Working together we can build a trusting and collaborative relationship within which we can reflect on your world and your place in it, your relationships and your emotions to find fresh perspective and new meaning so that you can continue your journey through life with more self-acceptance, resilience and fulfilment.

Joanna Philipson

Qualified Counsellor

I am a trained and qualified counsellor and have experience working with clients whose lives are being affected by a wide range of difficulties.  These difficulties can arise from many different life events which can have lasting effects on us.

I offer support to adults facing challenges including, but not limited to: anxiety and depression, relationship problems, loss, the effects of trauma, including childhood trauma, addictions, lack of self-worth, feelings of worthlessness, shame and guilt.

I also have experience working in the health care system, working with support charities both locally and nationally and working on a telephone/email helpline supporting people in crisis.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work to their standards and code of ethics.

About Me

HOW I WORK

It is the relationship that heals...

Irvin Yalom

How I Work

I work in an integrative way as I believe that each and every person is unique with a life and a story that is entirely individual to them.  I will try to see your world as you see it.

This means that I will tailor my approach to you individually to explore your feelings, emotions, experiences and relationships in the way that best suits you.  We can then go wherever you need to go to build our relationship.

I aim to work in collaboration with you to build a safe and trusting relationship which will help us to gain new insight, fresh perspectives and bring about the healing changes that you long for.

I look forward to meeting you, hearing your story, getting to know you and starting the therapy journey together.

I am able to offer my clients face-to-face meetings, remote sessions or blended therapy based upon your needs and preferences.

Practicalities

I am able to offer a variety of options to clients that prefer remote sessions.

I will be able to speak with you using Zoom, or we can speak over the telephone.

Face-to-Face Sessions

We can speak in a private, quiet room dedicated to meeting with clients.

My home in Trimley near Felixstowe is easily accessible by car with off-street parking, or by train to Trimley or bus.

Timings and Costs

In person and remote sessions last for one hour and cost £45.

I offer sessions on weekdays, early evenings and Saturday mornings depending on availability.

GETTING STARTED

Getting Started

I encourage you to contact me so that we can discuss your needs and options.

You can contact me via email or by calling me on 07854 926266. Please leave me a message with your name, number and a convenient time for you to take my call and I will get back to you.  Please also let me know if it is ok to leave you a message.

Once we have arranged for a first session, we can talk about what brings you to therapy, your current concerns and what you would like to gain from therapy.

This first session would normally last for an hour and, if we decide to work together, we will also discuss some of the practical boundaries that we both need to be aware of and agree to.
